Ksheerabdi Dwadasi Date and Time 2024: Wednesday 13th November 2024 Dwadasi till 10.02 a.m as per TTD Calendar 2024.
Suddha Dwadasi i.e the 12th day in the Sukla Paksha (brighter half of moon) - after Deepavali Amavasya - of the auspicious Hindu month of Kaartikam is celebrated as Ksheerabdi Dwadasi. This day is also known by the names Chiluka Dwadasi, Yogeeswara Dwadasi and Hari Bodhini Dwadasi.
Hindus believe that Sri Maha Vishnu who remains in Yoga Nidra from Tholi Ekadasi (Aashaada Shudda Ekadasi) day and remains in deep sleep for 4 earthly months, wakes up on Ksheerabdi Ekadasi day - a day before Ksheerabdi Dwadasi.
It is also believed that on this auspicious day, Sri Maha Vishnu accompanied with Brahmaadi devatalu (along with all the other gods) visits Bridavanam. Hence, those who worship Tulasi plant on this auspicious day will be blessed with a prosperous life.
During Samudra Manthanam (ocean drilling) Goddess Lakshmi Devi evolved from the depths of the milky ocean on Dhana Trayodasi day. And it is on this Ksheerabdi Dwadasi day, Lord Vishnu married Lakshmi Devi. Hence, the day is considered highly auspicious and people worship Tulasi plant along with Indian gooseberry (amla) plant.
It is believed that Lord Vishnu resides in the Indian Gooseberry plant and hence a twig of this plant is placed beside the Tulasi plant on Ksheerabdi Dwadasi while performing pooja. The Holy Basil plant is also known by the name Brinda. According to Hindus, whoever worships Tulasi plant with complete devotion on this special day particularly the married women, is blessed with a long, prosperous and happy married life.
Most of the Hindu married women perform Ksheerabdi Dwadasi pooja on this auspicious day which involves special offerings after the recital of Tulasi Ashtottaram and Ksheerabdi Dwadasi Vrata Katha along with special deepaaradhana or lighting of earthen lamps.
